Colibrí Adventures provides a memorable experience through an exciting group of programs combining adventure, natural beauty, friendly people, and a commitment to quality. We are one of the oldest educational travel operators in the country, and offer experience throughout the Central American region. Our Colibrí Adventures program is geared to maximiming pleasure outdoors--whether for the adventure traveler serious about perfecting his/her skills, or the outdoors enthusiast ready to take on an additional challenge.
A major reason people visit Costa Rica is the rich diversity. Our 1-week programs provide just a taste of the environments of the country, and they can easily be combined with additional exploration. We have selected to run our programs in the northwest region of Costa Rica, within the Province of Guanacaste. Besides being ideally situated to provide the adventures we offer, the region is the sunniest in the country--offering the best year-round outdoor climate.
Certain beach areas in Guanacaste are among the country's most popular tourist destinations. Although not far from these areas, we run our programs where there are fewer tourists and more opportunities to experience local fauna. This portion of Costa Rica's coast is hot and dry, with temperatures typically around 90F/32C. Up in the hills the temperature drops to roughly 80F/26C. Night temperatures drop 10-15F/5-8C.
The Colibrí Equine Adventure and Colibrí Mountain Biking Adventure are based in Buena Vista, Guanacaste--just up the road from Cañas Dulces and less than 45 minutes away from Liberia--in the hills located in the buffer zone of the Rincón de la Vieja National Park. Groups are normally lodged at the Buena Vista Lodge, but for an additional charge can be placed at the Hotel Borinquen Mountain Resort & Spa.
The Colibrí Surf Kayak Adventure is based at Playa Grande--just north of Tamarindo--adjoining the Las Baulas National Park. Lodging is at the Hotel Las Tortugas.
We invite you to look at pictures of these areas and our programs, as well as visit the linked web sites. You may have already heard of the important conservation efforts taking place in the Guanacaste Conservation Area. Come see firsthand what's going on!
